Dismal Pool

Mount Hayes Hike

This portion of the Mahoosuc Trail climbs Mount Hayes on the southern end of the Mahoosuc Range.

The Mahoosuc Trail is a relatively easy hike affording excellent views of the surrounding Carter-Moriah, Presidential, and Crescent ranges. Mount Washington. Mt Madison, and Mt. Moriah stand out especially well presented.

The view of Gorham NH from the ledges of Mount Hayes is unsurpased. From this vantage point we get an idea why Boston.com voted Gorham as Sporty Town NH and far outclasses North Conway as being central to the best of the White Mountains.

We also take a look at some discoveries of historical and geological interest and natural curiosities that may often be overlooked while hiking this excellent trail.
